June Jobs Report: The US has added 73K jobs amid growing economic uncertainty



The US economy added jobs in July, but it was slower than in the past few months due to increased uncertainty about the economic situation.

Government salaries fell by 10,000 in July. The decline was driven by a cut in federal government’s 12,000 jobs, with 84,000 pay falls since its peak in January. Employees on paid leave or receiving ongoing retirement benefits are counted as being employed in the BLS establishment survey.

The state government added 5,000 jobs, while local government reduced 3,000 jobs in July.
