Uber, Waymo has launched an “interest list” for ride-sharing customers in Atlanta, Georgia

Uber and Alphabet’s Waymo – the racing partners that dominate the autonomous driving industry – are rapidly expanding and working to attract riders ahead of Atlanta’s launch this summer.

Uber opened its “interest list” on Tuesday, allowing local riders to have a greater chance of matching with Waymo vehicles when services are deployed. Although Uber has not announced an exact launch date, Atlanta will be the second city to feature a co-branded, fully autonomous, all-electric Jaguar I-Pace vehicle.

The service first launched in Austin in March. Since then, Uber said the “majority” of its customers in the area have chosen to ride Waymo’s self-driving cars when the opportunity arises.

How to get on your Uber profit list

• Riders must first update the app to join the list. Once updated, riders will need to move to the Ride Settings section under Account Settings. They can join the interest list.
• Selected riders will be notified via app and via email. These riders are also encouraged to share feedback about their rides.
