Anthony Elanga: Newcastle agrees to a £52 million transfer fee to sign Nottingham Forest this summer | Football News
Anthony Elanga flew to Newcastle Tuesday afternoon to receive medical care after a £52 million fee was agreed with Nottingham Forest.
This figure could rise to £55 million for £3 million with potential add-ons inserted during negotiations.
There are still more detailed points of the contract that should be organized, but it is understood that a framework for that has been agreed.
Newcastle began offering late last week, and discussions since then are understood to be focused on the payment structure.
Elanga is understood to be excited to play for a Champions League club.
What Newcastle wants to complete a good window
Keith Downey from Sky Sports News:
“It was announced on Monday that Callum Wilson will be leaving, which will leave Alexander Isak as a recognized No. 9. Newcastle is about to add another to that position.
“We have been saying for a while that Newcastle has been in discussion with Burnley over goalkeeper James Trafford.
“He’s the goalkeeper they want, then the defender on the right and the striker coming along with Isaac. If Newcastle can do that, it’s a good window for them.”
Meanwhile, Leeds is approaching agreeing to a deal with Sean Longstaff Magpies.
The newly promoted club has bid for £12 million on the 27-year-old midfielder. If this transaction is accepted, Leeds will see the first £10 million and £2 million with add-ons.
It’s not Leeds’ first offer, but the first offer to players, and they are understood to be reluctant to increase it more.
Longstaff – an academy alumni who sells Newcastle’s pure profits in regards to PSR – is already in the final year of his contract.
Newcastle will feel like the perfect step-up for a goal-driven Elanga
Sky Sports ‘William Vitibili:
“I spent time watching Anthony Elanga pre-season preparations ahead of last season, so it was clear that ambitions were shocked from him, like the sweat from his forehead, after passing through his pace by his personal strength and conditioning coach Tom Joyce.
“It was a very session that he prepared for his most productive season, with 18 goals in 43 appearances in all competitions. It was his final ball that Elanga added even more dimension to his game.
“Ambition was loud and loud, acknowledging that he played a major role in his development in his life at Manchester United.
“In many ways, it was a breakout after Elanga’s breakout. The 23-year-old punished the punishment, as the forest slightly missed out on Champions League qualification.
“Elanga added a new dimension to the game at City Ground with a creative return from 11 league assists, bringing it to nine from his previous campaign. He turns to preparing a link between his Swedish compatriots and his Eddie Manager, keymarksman Alexander Isaac, and Eddie’s manager.
“His former clubman UTD may have foreseen the potential impact Elanga could have, but he may not be allowed to leave the talent he was raised in Carrington in 2023. However, Elanga’s decision to leave Old Trafford is unlikely to regret him for Champions League football.”
