2011 US Open

McIlroy had a lot of attention on him in the contest at the country club in the council.

The repetitive performance potential was counteracted by McIlroy’s dominant display, controlling the tournament by firing 65 and 66 rounds, opening the largest 36-hole lead in US open history.

McIlroy had already set a record to reach 10 under 10 at the US Open on his way to a six-stroke advantage.

This time there was no final round struggle for the 22-year-olds at the time who scored tournament goals for Tiger Woods by finishing the week under the age of 16. The eight-shot victory over Jason Day is the largest winning margin in tournament history as of 2025.

Chasing Pack’s hopes declined on the last day when McIlroy birded three of his first seven holes to extend his lead.

The winning margin was the largest in tournament history, breaking Jack Nicklaus’s record, making McIlroy the youngest player to two big wins since Woods, winning Game 2 in search of Grand Slam glory.

Opened 2014

McIlroy has not historically produced the fastest start in the majors, but the bogeyless opening round at Royal Liverpool laid the foundation for a wire-to-wire victory.

Another 66 in the second round was given to McIlroy, a four-shot cushion heading into the weekend, adding a 68 of the three rounds, including two Eagles, to the final three holes, taking a six-shot lead on the final day.

Sergio Garcia charged the leaderboard and temporarily closed with McIlroy, who had returned to the day’s level par with Bogie on the 13th, but Rick Fowler also produced a late birdie finish to continue the fight.

McIlroy shrugged a potential final round collapse and extended the lead with a birdie on the 16th, extending the lead with a 1-under 71 enough to secure a two-shot victory over Garcia and Fowler and a jug of Clarett.

2014 PGA Championship

For McIlroy, it was summer to remember. McIlroy added to his victory with the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational Title on the Open after his fourth big success with a narrow victory at the Valhalla Golf Club.

McIlroy regained the World No. 1 spot the previous week, taking a one-shot lead in the final round, and birding three of the last four holes in three rounds 67 with a score of 66 and 67.

A slow start on the final day led Phil Mickelson and Fowler to begin a back nine fight on the 13th of the par 5 Pal 10 with a birdie on the par 4, ahead of McIlroy.

McIlroy birded on the 17th to take a two-shot lead over Mickelson into the final hole. There, a two-putt par in the dark for the light of light was enough to lock the Wanamaker trophy in the second time.

2025 Master

It takes 11 years and many near misses to add to his major tally, which marks a dramatic conclusion to his victory at Jagerta National.

McIlroy double-bogeyed the opening hole on Sunday and quickly lost a two-shot, 54-hole lead to Bryson Decanbaugh, then controlled the tournament before dropping four shots.

On the 15th, he placed a two-putt birdie for McIlroy, and on the 17th another birdie gave him a one-shot buffer heading to hole 72, missing a five-foot putt in the par and slipped into the playoffs with Justin Rose.

McIlroy compensated for the playoffs by setting up a birdie chance at close range. He caused an emotional celebration and made him the sixth player to complete the men’s career grand slam.
