Best Sweatpants: Our Top 7 Picks (2025)

Honorable mention

Gap heavyweight French Terry sewed wide leg sweatpants for $70: As mentioned earlier, sometimes non-traditional pants just leave my comfort zone a bit and I found it difficult to style. The heavy French terry fabric is wonderfully warm, with some colors looking like denim. But in my 5’1″ frame with no drawstrings in the waistband, these were regularly pooled at the ankles and were not a cool counter culture. It felt like I was dressing up in my dad’s clothes.Louryn Strame

Mack Weldon Ace Sweatpant $88: Mac Weldon fits a regular or tall on the Ace sweatpants and likes to try the latter, and went down to his ankle (Yay!). The fit is really good here, but the pants tend to look a little wrinkled. What stands out is the microblue French terry texture. The pockets have a strange wrinkled feel, but feel smooth and soft. There are two zippered pockets, one on the back and one on the right, the latter making it a great place for earphones. I like the ankles with a decorated backrest, which helps to maintain a nice shape. These pants are made of 95% cotton and 5% stretch. –Julian Chokkat

Buck Mason Welterweight Sweatpant $138: I love the look of Buck Mason’s 1940s-inspired welterweight sweatpants. The 100% cotton French terry fleece is durable and doesn’t feel too tight and makes you feel sick, but it’s not a choice to relax on the sofa. If I’m wearing these, I feel like I need to put a little thought into my clothes and get out the door and show off. I have two main issues. The first is that these pants aren’t long enough for my 6’4″ frame. That may not be a problem for you, but they land on top of the ankles. Also, the inside of the pocket feels rough.Julian Chokkat

Realistic Champion Midweight Terry Standard Sweatpants for $110: I regret ordering these sweatpants in white. Don’t buy white pants. You will quickly find out that it is really difficult to keep dirt away, especially on clothes designed to hang out. Thankfully, Reigne Champ has multiple other colour options and the vintage white I have is no longer available (it’s not just me!). I’m 6’4″ I was hoping that the pants would be a little longer to get closer to the ankle, but this is a common problem for me. My only glipe is the label on the inside of the sweatpants. The corners are very sharp and scratchy. The pockets are wide.Julian Chokkat
