“The good thing about this is that it’s quite a pain,” Adrian says. “So taking your case off is not the real pain of the scheme of life, but it has that sweet friction spot that you’re not going to turn it all the way around and do it.”

“We’re basically turning obsessive behavior into conscious behavior,” says Clara.

The opening case does not actually exist yet. It’s more of an art project than an actual project. But that may not be true, but special projects hope to inspire more thoughtful reflections on the time we spend on our phones. Something like an app that will keep you away from your phone by feeling guilty Kill the digital tree If you scroll too much.

“This is something a lot of people struggle with,” Adrian says. “There are many solutions, but there was something just a click.”

Aesthetically, the works of special projects evoke a certain teenage engineering spirit in pursuit of digital wellness. While the team was working on a project called, the idea for Aperture was born. Paper phonean app that allows you to print paper with all the information, such as contacts, calendar meetings, grocery lists, etc.

During this project, Westaways noticed that the windows engraved in the cluster of camera lenses on the back of the phone case are roughly the same size as the Apple Watch. With Apple now available to the limited windows of wrist-mounted devices, Westaways thought it would be easy to do the same on the phone. What if you could enable it by simply flipping the phone case?

“We’ve just started playing around with these ideas,” Adrian says. “The idea that we liked it is that by using two things you already own, you can turn them into something that feels like a new kind of device.”

However, the original vision was to convert any phone case into an Aperture-enabled helper, but reality is unlikely to unfold that way. Firstly, the Switcheroo may not work with a mobile phone case alone, as it may simply not match or may be pressing the button along the side of the phone, depending on how the case is manufactured.
